Anselm, and quotes him as saying that it is because we believe that we seek reasons.8 Christianity is a faith that has had, since the beginning of its theological tradition, both outer pressures and an inner drive to be systematic. Anselm is particularly interesting in our context for reasons over and above that appeal to the inner drive of Christian faith to rational expression. First, he accepts the challenge of the sceptic and the one who denies the intellectual respectability of Christianity.
